in my childhood memories in Chania. As a
result, Chania constitutes the ultimate source of
inspiration for my work.
What is your favourite place on the island?
Apokoronas, where I have been living for the past
30 years.
What is the essence of Chania, should you
describe it to a foreigner?
The Venetian port and the small villages, the
verdant North and the wild South, the White
Mountains overlooking the exotic beaches; a
place so blessed, brimming with contrasts and
wild beauty.
Τι σας «τράβηξε» στην τέχνη της κεραμικής;
Η πρώτη επαφή με τον τροχό και η αίσθηση
της λάσπης στα χέρια μου ήταν κάτι που με
έκανε να αισθανθώ μια περίεργη δύναμη.
Από πού αντλείτε έμπνευση;
Οι πέτρες, τα δέντρα και η θάλασσα «οδηγούν»
τα χέρια μου και από εκεί προέρχονται και τα
χρώματα που επιλέγω για τα σμάλτα μου. Ένα
άλλο σημαντικό στοιχείο έμπνευσης είναι οι
μνήμες που έχω από τα παιδικά μου χρόνια
στα Χανιά. Κατά συνέπεια, τα Χανιά είναι η
απόλυτη πηγή έμπνευσης για το έργο μου.
Ποιο είναι το αγαπημένο σας μέρος στο νησί;
Ο Αποκόρωνας, όπου ζω τα τελευταία 30
χρόνια.
Πώς θα συνοψίζατε τα Χανιά σε μια φράση, αν
έπρεπε να τα περιγράψετε σε έναν ξένο;
Το ενετικό λιμάνι και τα μικρά χωριά, ο
πράσινος Βορράς και ο άγριος Νότος, τα Λευκά
Όρη που αγναντεύουν τις εξωτικές παραλίες,
τόπος ευλογημένος, γεμάτος αντιθέσεις και
άγρια ομορφιά.
